The Engineering Department routinely conducts off-line mold review.

Are you familiar with the “off-line mold review”?
In die-casting factories with standardized management, the mold maintenance process typically includes a step called the “off-line mold review.”
Simply put, this is the process of systematically inspecting and evaluating the condition of a mold after it has been removed from the die-casting machine, usually involving the joint participation of mold maintenance, process engineering, quality control, and production teams.
The primary purposes of the off-machine inspection:
1: Assess the current condition of the mold. Inspect the cavities and cores for scratches, pitting, cracks, or aluminum buildup, and check the wear on moving parts such as slides, ejectors, and guide pins to confirm whether the mold can continue stable production.
2: Determine the follow-up course of action. The review helps decide whether the mold can be returned to production after immediate cleaning, requires routine maintenance, needs repair, or should undergo a major overhaul. The goal is to avoid “running the mold while defective” or “over-repairing” it.
3: Trace production issues. If product abnormalities occur during production, an off-machine review can help determine whether the issue stems from the mold or from process/equipment factors.
4: Provide data for mold life management.
5: Standardization and clarification of responsibilities. Use review records to clearly document the condition of the mold at handover.
The off-line mold review is a critical component of a company’s quality management system; at its core, it serves as a quality control checkpoint and a decision-making point for maintenance.
